Building a great club - have your say
Across the course of the season so many of you have put forward great ideas or expressed views on how we are travelling. We encourage you to share these ideas and views with us over coming weeks as we look to you to help us build the GV Suns' priorities and plan for the next few years.
We are seeking feedback from everyone - from SAP to Seniors and everyone who wants to see the GV Suns learn, grow and succeed.
How to have your say - online & in person - Tuesday 4 Sept
Complete our online survey. This survey will help us understand what is important to you and how well we are delivering on those priorities. It covers a wide range of on and off the pitch topics from access to pitches to player development priorities. And there are free text boxes for you to share further ideas and thoughts.
Come along to our Future Forum - Tuesday 4 September 6 pm - 7:30pm
Join us in the main Pavilion for our player/parent Future Forum. The session will be independently facilitated with board members in attendance to listen and learn from our members. Bring your ideas, hopes and experiences to and hopefully we will have at least a few survey responses to add to the discussion!
What will happen to your feedback
Your feedback will help shape the GV Suns' three strategic plan - we also hope the forum will help build stronger relationships within the Club and help us set the priorities for the immediate 12 months as we head into a period of substantial change to the overall NPL structure.
Future directions for the NPL - what happens in 2020?
Recently the FFV released its report detailing findings and recommendations from its independent review of the competition structure for football in Victoria - both the National Premier Leagues Victoria (NPL) and the FFV community competition structures. It's an easy read with some excellent points about the challenges facing regional NPL soccer and with that the growth of the game in regional areas. Some of the key outcomes included:
- There is a need to address the cost to play at NPL level and make this pathway more accessible
- Games in the development pathway need to be more competitive
- There is a high ratio of elite participation at junior level compared to other sports
- License criteria needs to be reset and regulated
- Seniors and juniors needs to be de coupled for promotion and relegation
- Pathway should be accessible for all clubs who can meet the criteria
- Clubs should not be limited to the number of teams they have per age group
- All parties need to build stronger relationships with local councils
- Coaching criteria requires greater flexibility
FFV has advised there will be additional consultation with key stakeholders around various parts of the review including:
- Optimal Junior Model
- Senior Competition Structure
- Cost to play
- Regional Support
As we prepare the strategic plan for our club, we will continue to refer to this report and its likely impact on our future opportunities and priorities.
This weekend - GV Suns juniors and seniors v Murray
Our juniors and seniors will travel to Albury this Saturday to take on Murray United. Its a great opportunity for two regional clubs to show what we are creating for football in regional Victoria.
