This year our match reports will rotate through the squads with two reports each week. This will allow our coaches to give greater perspective on what they are focusing on during each cycle - and how well its working on game days.

This week the U13s took on Dandenong City in a game of two halves. Although we had some great chances in the first half we couldn’t hit the target to score. The boys found playing against the wind very difficult in the opening stages of the first half and were a few goals down within 10 mins of the start. Conceding two of those goals from set pieces was also a little bit dissappointing as we had spoken before the game about picking up the opposition players and not ball watching.
The boys were a little flat at half time after coming in 4-0 down but I reminded them that it’s still a learning curve and they need to pick there heads up and work hard playing with the wind second half to get back into the game.
In the second half the boys were a lot better and was pressing all over the pitch and making better decisions on the ball. Defensively apart from one mistake which led to there last goal they were solid and we finished the half 1-1 with Tarkan scoring a cracking free kick. The score ended in a 5-1 defeat but Overall I was very pleased with the response in the second half from the boys we just need to cut out the basic errors and lack of concentration at crucial moments of the game. At the moment the boys are not getting the results but I can see improvements in passages of there play and structure.
I would like again to thank all the parents who came to support the boys and encourage them to please continue to do so even though the results have not been great this year development is the key for this age group and if they have your support and encouragement as well as ours as coaches they will continue to enjoy themselves and want to learn without the pressure of feeling they have to win.

Our 14s had another solid win on the weekend against Dandy City. These boys are working hard at training on their shape in and out of possession, their core skills and their habits.
We’d come off a poor performance the week before and it was good to see them trying to play our brand of football, make good decisions in posession and work hard to win the ball back early. We played a 4-3-3 formation in BP and a 4-5-1 in BPO and I’m pleased to say that’s how it looked to our interested senior onlookers on my bench, David Davkovski and co...
As with all players in every age group at Suns we are sharply focused on individual player development in a team environment; in this case NPL.
Every player in this group is on an upward curve in performance. Win, lose or draw I don’t care. I've coached teams that played well and lost, and teams who have been poor and won on the day. It tells me the level of competition is no good if we win all the time when we’re not great on the day. Players need to be challenged at all times, particularly talented players who may dominate in a local school based competition and not fulfill their potential because they aren’t playing at the level where they need to work much much harder than they needed to previously. This is where I believe these players develop enormously.
Well done lads.
