 Wednesday 1 March 2017

Season 2017 has arrived!

Good luck to all our junior squads as we take on Murray United for round one of season 2017.

Are you registered to play?
Make sure you complete your online registration at www.myfootball.com.au before our first game on Saturday 4 March.

Game day preparation ...

Give yourself the best chance to perform at your best.

Sleep - at least 8 hours the night before your game (and that doesn't include travel time to the game).

Hydrate - no point guzzling once you get to the ground! If you are well hydrated, then an hour before your game (so around the time you need to be at the ground) you should be looking for the toilets not the canteen. Start the night before and keep it simple - water is just fine.

Eat - Eat a good carbohydrate based meal 2-3 hours before you play and follow it up with a lighter snack (eg bananas) at least an hour before kickoff. Save the chips and hot dogs for after the game.

Arrive on time - all players are expected to be at the ground ready for warm up an hour before their game kick off. If you are running late call your Team Manager to explain.

Relax and enjoy the game!

Do you take photos at the games?
We try to get pics from all our matches but sometimes its difficult to be everywhere. If you take some pics on your camera, phone or 'box brownie' please share them with us at operations@gvsuns.com.au or via our facebook page.

Skills Aquisition Program kicks off

Our SAP squads also began their 2017 season tonight. It was fantastic to see our youngest players take to the field with so much enthusiasm. Its a big year ahead and we are off to a great start.

Shepparton Sports Precinct Works Update

The $21 million Shepparton Sports Precinct Upgrade will deliver some of the best sporting - and soccer - facilities in Victoria.

We can already see the shape of many of the key components including the two new pavilions and nine soccer pitches with upgraded lighting. The project has also delivered major underground works for irrigation and drainage that will ensure the grounds are usuable year round and year after year.

Over the next few months there will continue to be works at the precinct so please respect the signage - for your safety and so we dont cause any delays to the project.

Packham and Brauman Street Roundabout works
Works to build the new roundabout will begin this Sunday and weather permitting should be finished by Friday 17 March - which means our first home game falls right in the middle of works.

During the works, full traffic management will be in place at the roundabout and there may be delays so please allow time to arrive and park before your game.

Small Pavilion - expected mid March completion
Works are in the final stages. Once sewer and water are connected the final plumbing and electrical works will be completed and then the final stage - concreting outside the front of the building.

Main Pavilion - 30 June
All underground services are complete and over 84 footings filled with concrete, the fire service has been installed along with stormwater.  The structural steel will arrive onsite this week and construction will commence soon after. The footpath and strip footing for the grandstand is currently being installed, with the rock subbase for the carpark complete.

GV Suns 2017 Season Launch

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2017 season launch on Sunday. It was fantastic to have so many of the GV Suns family together to celebrate the journey so far and the exciting year ahead. A special thank you to everyone who helped organise the day, for the fantastic food and spectacular cake.

Congratulations Marcus!
