Sports precinct works during school holidays
This week works began on the access roads into the sports precinct and should see the bulk of the works completed before school resumes in 2017. Council is also sowing the back pitches and continuing works on the main pavilion.
Its important everyone respects all safety signs and fencing. Advice to keep off or keep out is important - you may not be able to see works but ignoring the signs may result in damage to the facilities ... or you.
If we receive reports of inappropraite access or behaviour by GV Suns players the Club will treat them seriously.
Access and parking while the works are underway
- the road between Wanganui Oval and the Sports precinct will be closed
- pedestrian access only to facilities north of the main pitch
- the main pitch will not be available until the first week of February
- parking is restricted to the south side of the tennis courts.
Works of this nature are always vulnerable to the weather and Shepparton City Council are providing regular updates to help with planning for our access to and use of the facilities in the new year.
School Sports Victoria - nominations open for U12 boys & girls
Each year School Sports Victoria selects a team of 14 U12 boys and 14 U12 girls to represent Victoria at the national championships. In 2017 the national championships will form part of the Pacific School Games in Adelaide with teams from across Australia and overseas competing in a range of sports from swimming to soccer.
In recent years GV Suns players have progressed well into the selection process and enjoyed some expert coaching along the way. GV Suns players have gone on to make up two of the final 14 man squads in each of the last two years. Its a great record for a regional Club and we encourage our players to give it a go.
The selection process begins with local trials in Shepparton and progresses to Darebin for the final rounds where players from across Victorian come together for selection and training.
Deadlines - Nominations for the Team Vic Football (Soccer) 12yrs for boys and girls close 10 March, 2017.
Eligibility - To nominate you must be 12 years and under as at 31 December 2017 - students born in 2005, 2006 or 2007. Please note, students turning 9 or 13 years in 2017 are ineligible.
