Thanks to everyone who has confirmed and paid for our first presentation night at our new home ground facilities. If you haven't booked tickets please call Maria Sepe  ASAP - we are at capacity and may not be able to accomodate late requests.

A-league friendly - thank you!

Thank you to the GV Suns parents, players and supporters who helped with the BBQs, the stretcher,  sweated in the mascot suits and helped settle the nerves of our visitors by walking them onto the pitch.

It was a spectactaular night, something we hope to see repeated now we have the facility to host A league level games.

Congratulations to Shepp Council

GV Suns also thanks and congratulates the Greater Shepparton City Council, staff and contractors who have overseen delivery of the massive sports precinct development project - right down to the last minutes when staff were pacing the pitch to ensure the sprinklers systems worked as requested by our A-league visitors. A fantastic achievement and amazing commitment to soccer in the GV.

Match Reports

Shaban Mehmet

Last game for 2017, what a year!! Since that infamous day on May 14th vs Kingston at home we have been working on our preparation, our Integrity and our sportsmanship. Its been a huge hill to climb, but i believe we have reached the summit.

As a coach and Technical Director I am very pleased with the way we handled our selves today. We could have been sucked in to the verbal and physical niggling today, we could have started to fight we could have started verbally attack them but we didn't. We stuck to the task at hand. A little maturity was shining through.

Well done to all for your hard work. As a result of this we won the game 2-0, a cheeky volley from Brandon and one well executed own goal from Kingston. It takes deliberate preparation, focus and training to perform at a high level week in week out, and if we can do that we will not be a mid table team we will be a top of the table team.

In our final game for the year the boys once again put in a wonderful performance against a team 8 places higher on the ladder to come away with a draw.
In conditions that were not conducive for playing football, the team still looked to play football rather than just kick it long. This was great to see and testament to how the team has developed over the year.

A big thanks to Annette for managing the team and making my job a lot easier.

It has been a privilege to coach this group of boys over the last 9 months, and watching them grow both individually and as a team.

I hope to see everyone back in 2018.

Tommy Giuliani

The 16s boys concluded their 2017 season on Sunday at Kingston City. After 27 rounds pre-game speeches and team task begin to sound generic. And thus we kept this to the minimum-no waffle. In gale force conditions we went against the wind in the 1st half and played very well.We shaded Kingston in all aspects and created many goal scoring opportunities. Kingston had one shot at goal from 30 yards and scored an improbable goal.

In the second half we lacked the patience we exhibited in our build up play in the 1st half. We became impatient and direct at times but continued to create chances to score goals. Unfortunately we were also  denied a penalty after a Kingston player literally slapped a ball in the penalty area. We pressed higher up the pitch and pushed our full backs on chasing the equaliser and dominated our opponents.

Kingston did score again against the run of play but i’m satisfied that we committed players forward to push for the equaliser and winning goal.Indeed we had enough chances to score 6-7 goals with a bit of luck and some clinical  finishing.Kingston just couldn’t get out of their own half..

These players can be satisfied in the way they have finished off their campaign. The Nunawading game at McEwen was the turning point - since that 2nd half turnaround they now appreciate that 80% effort is not enough.100% is not negotiable. Our shape has improved in and out of possesion and this has allowed us to keep the ball,be expansive going forward and get compact defensively. We’ve worked hard in transition moments and everything else has been better. We’ve been very competitive and it’s a shame that the  season’s finished in a way. Finally, I want thank them for allowing me to be a part of their football and personal development.
