Two Head knocks in two weeks at GV Suns Juniors!!

Dealing with suspected concussion correctly is IMPORTANT and easy!  There is a concussion policy to handle this, and it is readily interpreted by anyone in the club.  (Lindy this will need an attachment)

Who's responsible?  Everyone, players, parents, team managers, coaches, club officials, referees.... to support the policy.  These heads need protecting!

Fortunately or unfortunately on game day the responsibility falls with the trainer and the team manager.  The policy will be made available to team managers this week ( it hasn't been readily available in the past).  The team manager is the club representative who is there to look after the players on the pitch.

To make this easy for them we all need to remember, revisit, learn about the latest on sports related concussion to prevent long term brain injury;
  • doesn't have to have a direct blow to the head,
  • Sports related head injury is an evolving condition, with signs and symptoms not immediately present.  They can become evident 20-30 mins later to hours or the next day.
