The weekend was again good to watch with the kids slowly starting to create more and more chances in our attacking half of the pitch. It's something we worked on during the week. We are starting not to panic as much on the ball.
Couple of lapses in our concentration led to a couple of easy conceded goals. Jeremy was particularly good in the way he handled multiple positions throughout he 2 games. Ethan is always listening which makes him very easy to coach so good to see his skills adapt.
Tough week next week so we will be working on beating our direct opponent like we have done so in the past.
Scott & Zac Hutchison

The kids showed great fighting spirit against port Melbourne on Sunday, there pressure was fantastic and there was some fantastic prices of play. We had 12 scoring shots with one goal including corners ( Lucas ).
Rhys did well in goals again, the back four were solid as always and show great courage, Hayden was instrumental on the wing in the first game as was Flynn in the second game. Liam is starting to show some poise on the ball while Brodie and Luca have that never give in Fearless attitude. Great work kids keep it up

More first touch at training this week. You never can train enough in key areas like this!
Our game focus was to keep up the team work area of our game with plenty of passing and less doing it on your own, plus working harder off the ball. If you are not moving while play is going on around you then you aren’t involved in the game. Every player needs to be reading and moving with the play at all times.
Our first half against the Sharks was some of the best soccer we’ve played all season. We dominated from the off, controlled the game and scored 2 excellent goals. It seemed that after all these weeks of training and playing, the penny had finally dropped. The half time team talk was “more of the same”.
Unfortunately, that didn’t quite go according to plan. The game was much more even in the second half with neither team getting the edge on game play yet it was the Sharks who altered the score line. They had 2 clear cut chances and scored them both. A tough way to finish after such a good first half.
Although we were disappointed, if we can continue to play like we did in the first half for longer periods during games, we will give any team a run for their money!

Well done to everyone. A couple of turbulent weeks is not ideal but we are working really hard at training and it showed on Sunday.
We focused on simple passing and rewarding your team mate. There was a vast improvement in team play because of it. Keep up the hard work

This week saw the team get together and talk about the 5Cs: Commitment, Communication, Concentration, Control, and Confidence.
We looked at both the positive and negative impact the 5Cs have on the team and individuals during a game and at training. If you want to know more about the matters we discussed and the 5C program please visit https://the5cs.co.uk/about/why-the-5cs-website/.
Along with the 5Cs, the tasks for the team going into the game was to control possession, passing the ball quickly into our forwards and also, working to win the ball back quickly when we lost possession.
The game saw the boys work as a unit to maintain control of the ball and the game for extended periods, however a mix up between our defenders saw us concede a goal. Despite the setback, the team regrouped and stayed positive. The message at half time message was simply to keep playing our game and to stay positive.
During the second half we again controlled the game for extended periods but were unable to capitalise on this. In our push to score an equaliser, we conceded a second due to a brief lapse in concentration.
The improvement in the team, after last week was great to see.
Just play. Have fun. Enjoy the game.

The focus for the team this week was moving the ball quickly into our forwards, while staying positive and encouraging your team mates when the game changes.
The team started really well, moving the ball about and stretching the opposition players. A great passage of play soon saw the team 1-0 ahead and looking comfortable. However, just before halftime, after hitting the post, we found ourselves level after a quick counter attack by Port Melbourne.
The second half, again saw some great ball possession but without any reward. A couple of skill errors and tired bodies saw the team concede a few more goals.
Thanks to Fergie, Darcy, Moses and Stefan for backing up straight from the under 15s game.

On Wednesday night we set up against the Under 20s and focused on positioning. Friday night was under the guidance of Stuart Vance and he put them through their paces. Game day came around quick and we were looking to bounce back from the previous week disappointment.
Unfortunately our playing stocks were depleted to the point we only had 7 Under 18’s available to play. We topped up using the 16’s and 15’s but it was evident these boys tired quickly with the pace of the game that Port Melbourne were playing.
To our boys credit they didn’t give up and kept going to the end. The score line is an accurate reflection of how dominant the opposition was but the most pleasing thing of all is that we continued to defend, pressure, and try and break quickly when we could.
Big thanks to Tommy R, Bowdie, Cal, Kane, Apo from the 16’s and Ferg and Moses from the 15’s for filling in on the day. My best on ground was CJ Saron who put in an outstanding shift and really showed himself to be a leader amongst all the younger kids that were on the park.
